The History of the Los Angeles Animal Services Department

Animal agencies in urban places have long dealt with a few central issues: human cruelty to animals, animal diseases such as rabies, and as human populations themselves increased, overpopulation.  The activities of the LAAS have long been focused on saving animals from human cruelty and disease, and finding them safe homes to thrive in.  A range of these activities appear over and over in these archives.
